Enrollment Has Begun
The informational meeting and open house were both successful, with over fifty people in attendance at each. Enrollment is now underway for new families and interest has been high. We currently have space available in all grades, in all programs, at all schools. We will have another open house on April 2, but don't wait- call or email to set up a visit now. |

Summer Fun!
The New Classical Academy is happy to announce four weeks of summer camp at the Weaverville campus this summer. The day camps will run from 9 to 3, Monday through Friday. The weeks include: Going Native!, Art Across the Ages, Pirates on Parade, and Harry Potter. |
Trust Us
People who visit our school often remark on how different our school is. Children are not sitting quietly in desks in a row, waiting for a teacher to give directions or to explain something. Instead, children are all over the place- at tables, sprawled in the hall, walking around, even in a tent! Each child has a notebook of his weekly assignments and our trust that he will accomplish them with our help. The New Classical Academy educational model is very different from other schools in many ways. Our methods, our timetable for curricular goals, our curriculum, our belief in the need for balance, even our daily and weekly schedule are all different. We believe that the needs of each child are unique, and we tailor academic, emotional and social expectations to each individual. It is a great leap of faith to entrust someone with your child's education. Once you have chosen us, you may rest assured that we take each child's happiness, well-being, and intellectual development to heart. We are honored that so many families are already trusting us with their children. If you are considering our school and would like to talk to parents of enrolled children, just let us know and we will arrange it. |

The Big Orange Building
Have you seen our school from the road? It's hard to miss. But like so many things, you can't judge it by the outside. Inside, our school is full of love and life and color and beauty. We will be at the current Weaverville site for approximately three more school years, and then we will build an amazing permanent school which will be beautiful both inside and out. Our long term vision for the school includes sustainability, natural light and materials, open spaces and warmth on the inside; organic gardens, native plantings, water features, shade and sun on the outside. In the meantime, we are happy to have a safe and convenient location for The New Classical Academy of Weaverville. |
Campus Happenings
The second issue of the Pen and Ink (informally known by the kids as PAIN- Pen and Ink Newspaper) came out at the end of January and featured an interview by Rabb Scott with Frank Homolka regarding the infamous worm eating incident. In other news, the middle school students made their own 'zines, play practice is well under way for our March 2nd performance of "The First 16 Presidents" (another musical) and dollhouses are all the rage as students of all ages are creating miniature worlds for their hand made clothespin dolls. We have had a number of parent volunteers and guests this past month, and we would like to thank them all. Karen Boekschoten shared her love of history with the students by bringing in ink and quills for the students to try their hand at 18th century writing. The children copied Ben Franklin's maxims, with the favorite being "Fish and visitors smell after three days." Leah Baker and Melanie Wester led a fun Valentine's craft project. Master Derek Croley of Croley's Martial Arts Center gave a presentation on Martial Arts. Dan McGinnis enthralled a number of children with his description of the inner workings of computers, and local artist Leslie Goodrich assisted in our 'zine making project. Wow! Thank you! |
